Bhubaneswar, Feb 03 Close on the heels of his expulsion from Congress, former Koraput MLA Krushna Chandra Sagaria joined the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in a special function organized here in the capital city.
Last year on November 6, he had announced his resignation from the Assembly on moral grounds citing that he has not been able to provide justice to the Kunduli ‘gangrape’ victim. Following that, he had been expelled from Congress for alleged anti-party activities and issuing statements in media against the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) office bearers and causing damage to the Congress.
After the joining program today, he said, “I simply wanted constitutional rights for fellow SC, ST and OBC citizens. There 54% OBC people here and I wanted Congress to take up their fight. But, they expelled me without citing any proper reason. I know BSP will fight this fight. And if BSP chief Mayawati wants, I will contest against Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik.”
Notably, Sagaria had contested the 2014 assembly polls as a Congress candidate and was elected to the Odisha Legislative Assembly from Koraput Vidhan Sabha constituency.
