Dalit Shoshan Mukti Manch holds convention

 Dalit Shosan Mukti Manch organized a convention on theme ‘The Atrocities on Dalits in J&K State and in the country’ here.
Threadbare discussions were held on the atrocities on the Dalits, against discriminatory and unconstitutional tactics of the government, withdrawal of new 13 point roster system and restoration of old 200 point roster system in Universities. 
While addressing the convention, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami said that there has been a spurt in atrocities against Dalits and minorities throughout the country. “The attacks on minorities and the atmosphere of hatred and violence fostered to divide the people. Instead of addressing the people’s issues, the government policies had only deepened people’s misery and tried to divert their attention into issues aimed at sharpening communal polarization,” he said, and assured to give full support for the cause of SCs, STs and OBCs.
Romesh Chand, Convener of the Manch said that unemployment being a cause of serious concern have not been addressed seriously by the successive governments thereby putting the youth of the State into despair. He appealed to the government for fulfilling the genuine demands of oppressed community.
Baba Ram and Tilak Raj said that the government has not taken measures to increase employment opportunities. They said “We always stand by the downtrodden class of the society and will always support the cause of Dalits.”
